Built a fully integrated, web-based retail management system for the Medford Food Co-Op from the ground up, replacing costly proprietary software with open-source solutions. The system covered point-of-sale, inventory management, accounting, and hardware integration — all running on a self-managed Linux network.
• Network Infrastructure:
- Deployed and managed a local network of 25 computers running open-source Linux
- Maintained system stability and security across all workstations and servers
• Point-of-Sale System:
- Implemented and customized the open-source ISC4 POS platform
- Developed a custom credit card terminal interface integrated directly with the POS
- Integrated barcode scanners and weight scales for produce and bulk department pricing
• Inventory & Label Management:
- Built a custom web-based inventory management system
- Designed and implemented a dynamic label printing system generating barcodes, pricing, and PLU data
- Integrated label printers for seamless shelf and product labeling workflows
• Accounting & Reporting:
- Developed extensive custom accounting reports tailored to co-op financial workflows
- Enabled department-level sales tracking, vendor reconciliation, and margin analysis
